Background
- Dr Tran completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland. Having developed a keen interest in ophthalmology, she commenced her ophthalmology training in the UK, gaining valuable experience in glaucoma, oculoplastics and strabismus from some of the world's leading ophthalmologists.
- Dr Tran returned to Australia to complete her ophthalmology training. She completed general ophthalmology fellowship at the Queensland Eye Institute. During this time, she also completed a Masters of Public Health, continuing her research interests with a major in epidemiology.
- Dr Tran later moved to Melbourne to undertake the sub-specialty glaucoma fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH). Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr Tran decided to stay in Melbourne and take a consultant position at the RVEEH, specialising in glaucoma.
- Dr Tran is a fellow of Royal Australian College of Ophthalmology and member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive surgeons.

Dr Tu Tran is a consultant ophthalmologist at the RVEEH Glaucoma Investigative Research Unit in East Melbourne. Her clinical interest is in glaucoma, ocular imaging techniques, glaucoma laser procedures and glaucoma surgery including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices (shunt surgery) and the latest Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) devices and techniques.She is comfortable in management the most complex of glacoma cases.
She is an experienced cataract surgeon having performed She also specialises in hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm by botulium toxin injections.
She is a RANZCO examiner for the RANZCO Advanced Clinical Examinations. She is on the expert advisory panel for Glaucoma Australia.
Dr Tran is actively involved in the continuing education of orthoptists and optometrists. Dr Tran is actively involved in teaching registrars and fellows, the next generation of ophthalmologists. She presents at national and international conferences.

Volunteer Work
Dr Tran volunteers with a number of charity organisations, providing specialist teaching to overseas doctors and helping to restore sight for those in need in under-developed countries.
Recently, Dr Tran travelled to Cambodia and Vietnam as a volunteer "Visionary" with Sight For All, a charity organisation involved in training glaucoma surgery to registrars in South East Asia.
